CALYPSO
An image brought to life: how a character idea turned into a video game.
I created Calypso as an original character way back in 2017. She started as an online persona, that turned into a demon girl, who was going to be a main character of a comic that never saw the light of day.
Just last fall, I revisited Calypso as a character. I wanted to practice digital art, so I started drawing her again. That spring I was taking a class at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, in the Bachelor of Innovation Degree Game Design, where the goal was to create a full release game.
Calypso became the center focus of that game. I'm not a stellar programmer so I thought about what an easy idea would be, that would show off my art and music. What I landed on was a dating simulator rhythm game, to which I owe a shoutout for the idea to my friend Eastin (thanks Eastin for letting me steal your idea). From there, I worked the entire semester to bring Calypso to life, and now it's out on for you all to play!
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy playing CALYPSO!
